Our story

Welcome to Baby Doudou, a Canadian brand inspired by the timeless comfort of European doudous — soft baby comfort toys that help little ones feel safe, calm, and loved.

A Belgian Heart in a Canadian Home

I’m Audrey, born and raised in Belgium — a place where every baby grows up with a beloved doudou. Life later carried me across the ocean when I met my husband while traveling in Brazil. After a little time apart and a long-distance chapter, we settled in Canada, got married, and started our family. Today, our two little ones — a curious two-year-old and a gentle six-month-old — are the heart and inspiration behind this brand.

When I became a mother in Canada, I realized that this beautiful doudou culture didn’t really exist here, and I wanted to share it with my little ones. That desire soon grew into an opportunity — to create something that makes me truly come alive, and to root a piece of my European heart into our Canadian home.

How my little ones inspired me to create Baby Doudou

In France and Belgium, a doudou is much more than a soft toy. It’s a baby’s first source of comfort — a small companion that carries the familiar scent of home and the warmth of a parent’s love, offering security and connection wherever they go.

Both of our babies are deeply attached to their doudous. They reach for them when they’re sleepy, hurt, or simply need a hug. From the moment they were able to grab objects (around three to four months), I introduced their doudous — choosing non-stuffed animal designs that are light, soft, and safe for cuddling close to their cheeks or mouths.

I noticed how they used their doudous to self-soothe and fall asleep more easily, making gentle sucking motions similar to nursing. This daily comfort inspired me to share doudou tradition with other families — and that’s how Baby Doudou was born.

Our Mission

At Baby Doudou, we believe that every baby deserves a comforting friend to help them sleep peacefully and feel secure as they explore the world. Each doudou is designed with love, safety, and emotional well-being in mind — a small companion that becomes a big part of your baby’s early memories.
